FAQ: Hair Care

Ever since I showed my face instead of just my nails, I started getting questions about things other than nails - & so I've finally gotten around to doing short vid on my hair routine & maintenance.  I guess it does qualify as a SLP since as I'm sure you all know there are few things more annoying than a bad hair day, so having a good hair day is always a pleasure =)

And, just over 2 hours until my stylist is on Bridezillas!  NOT as the bride LOL as someone asked me, but I'm looking forward to seeing her on there, and wondering how much screen time she'll get since her particular Bridezilla gets a 3 episode story arc.

More nails coming, maybe even tonight if I get my act together - and be sure to please head to my Facebook Fan Page & help me out by voting on a name for the upcoming start of my fruit series =)

Thanks for reading.

FAQ: Konad Part 2 - Accent Designs & Polish Choices

I didn't realize, until I went back & reviewed Part 1 to make sure I didn't repeat myself too much (you can check out Part 1 HERE if you missed it), that it had been nearly a year since I recorded it.  Time flies I guess =)

Part 2 ended up to be a lot longer than I initially thought, but I ended up talking about more than just the technique behind stamping small accent designs onto your nail.  I also touch on what brands other than Konad you can use & how to figure that out, & stamping a designs with multiple colors.  So if you're new to Konad, or just curious how I do mine, enjoy:

Today would be catch up blogging all day except for one thing - today is Cookie Day!!!  Honestly maybe my favorite day of the year, even above Christmas.  I'm sure I'll still get a few things posted, but most of the day will be spent frosting sugar cookies & making up trays.  If you missed my cookie frosting marbling last year, check it out HERE, posted with last year's Cookie Day pics - and stay tuned for not only pics from this year's Cookie Day, but some cooking tutorial vids very very soon.  I have 3 recorded, & although none are edited yet I'd like to get them all up before Christmas.

I hope any of your pre-holiday plans are going as well as mine =)  Although I still have to do the majority of my shopping!  Gah, don't know when I'll fit that in this week but we'll see.  Thanks for reading.

FAQ: Nail Wheels

Hmmm, what to add to this vid?  I think for once I managed to fit everything in LOL =)

I do wish that I remembered exactly where I got the nail wheels, but I was unable to find the blog post & I'm not going to go digging through 2+ year old receipts just to satisfy curiosity.

Thanks for reading.

FAQ: Crackle/Shatter Comparison

It's really too bad that I don't have any of the crack polishes from back in the day, live Revlon, but I do have 4 different brands (China Glaze Crackle Glaze, OPI Shatter, Sally Hanson Crackle Overcoat & Kelier Crack Polish) & I finally got around to shooting this on Friday, editing yesterday & now uploading today =)  Enjoy:

Crack polishes are not my favorite, but they're kind of growing on me.  What do you think of them?

FAQ: Orange Sticks

You would not BELIEVE how many questions about orange sticks I get on YouTube ... is this some kind of regional slang do you think, like the difference between soda & pop?  What do you call them?  I only realized after I specifically looked at the package that it didn't say orange stick on it, that they were being called  "nail care sticks" ... whatever, it's still an orange stick to me LOL

If you're one of the people who don't know what an orange stick is - well I finally caved in & explained:

FAQ: Thinning Polish & How Long is Polish Good?

This is a question that I get more on YouTube, but there have been a few articles lately saying polish is only good for a year & I had to dispel what I consider to be a myth =)

The Urban Decay I show in the vid is definitely one of my oldest polishes - what is your oldest bottle?  Thanks for reading.

FAQ: Konad Part 1 - What is Konad

I don't know that very many of my blog readers need this FAQ - I know a lot of you are fellow polish bloggers, and we are a well-educated lot =)  But I get just a TON of questions about Konad on YouTube, so I put together a quick video.  And of course since I'm sick I feel like I forgot to mention some stuff LOL.

Here's the tutorial:

Now, on to what I forgot to mention:

First thing, on non-Konad polishes that work for stamping.  On my Polish OCD Spreadsheet, there's a column called "opacity" - if there is a "K" in that column, that means I have successfully stamped with that polish.  Another reason I need to get an updated version finished & uploaded...

On cleaning the plates - be sure to use a polish remover with no additives - I use 100% acetone.  If you use a remover that has moisturizers, etc, it can leave a residue on the stamper and/or the plate, making it more difficult to pick up the design or to get a clean image.

Of course, if you want to check out any of my stamped manicures, I tag the hell out of everything - you can search with the labels drop-down in the right sidebar by categories like "stamping," "Konad," "Bundle Monster," or even by each individual plate like "m63."

If you want to purchase your own image plates, here are just a few of the places that sell them:
Wow So Cool
Bundle Monster
Born Pretty
Chez Delaney

Side note on Born Pretty - my readers can use the code "COLE10K31" for 10% off through 3/31 =)

I'll probably think of more as soon as I click publish LOL.  I'll try not to let it be too long before I do the additional parts =)

Thanks for reading.
