NOTD: Spiderweb Marble

For once, this turned out exactly as I pictured in my head. Super-fun Halloween manicure, and super-easy to do. Hardest part was getting the base coat halfway-decently opaque. I lost count, but I think this was 6 coats? And still visible nail line. Oh, and don't let the camera fool you, this is NEON =) Sinful Colors Summer Peach:


Next, I took my inspiration from this tutorial from over at Trendy Nail. You can translate to your language of choice, or just watch the self-explanatory video at the bottom =) I didn't follow this to the letter, but the only real difference was that instead of going from the middle of the nail towards the corner, I dragged from the corner towards the middle, to get a cool spiderweb effect. As I try to when showing freehand art, I've included a shot of my right hand, which is a tad messier but not much:


I was going to put a rhinestone in each web corner, but I changed my mind after the pinky LOL. My mom tried to tell me it's too early for a full-on Halloween mani, but I have to disagree. I have several Halloween manis I want to do, and since I don't think I could handle wearing orange for like a week straight, I've got to get started =) Thanks for reading.

I Object!

This is wrong. WRONG I tell you. Even for Minne"snow"ta. This is what I woke up to this morning:


It's mostly melted now, but that's not the point. I was brushing leaves AND snow off of my car at the same time. And sure, it was "pretty" and all that, but WTF Mother Nature? What happened to Fall?

I've got what I have to say I consider an awesome NOTD for you guys, but the pics need to be edited so won't be up until tomorrow evening. But I had to mention because I can't wait to show you guys, this seriously turned out exactly like in my head. So stay tuned =) Thanks for reading.

I've been tagged by Solveig over at Nailin' It, with the color blue =) Here are my 7 blue things:


#1 is my computer ... even though it pisses me off on a pretty regular basis


#2 I thought I for sure should include a book =) This just happened to be the bluest one in my current stack LOL
#3 is China Glaze Frostbite
#4 my 100% Acetone ... I use mostly for cleaning Konad plates & removing patches
#5 my Biotin pills
#6 my warm & snuggly snowman robe
#7 my ceramic flat iron

That was kind of fun =) Although I do feel a tad late to the game since it feels like I've seen this on most other blogs already LOL ... I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who I haven't already seen play ... but anyone who wants, guess what color I assign you? PURPLE! (duh =) )

NOTD: OPI YDKJ (Suede ... Kinda)

OK, so I am not a big fan of the whole matte look. I like my nails shiny damnit. So you can imagine my horror this fall, with mattes literally around every corner from every company. Still, I've come to appreciate a matte topcoat over a flakie or glitter polish, and I was fascinated by OPI's Suede Collection. Especially after seeing Scrangie's swatches with topcoat =)

I still wanted to show off some of the Suede finish though - so I decided to do a design kind of like I did with a Konad design a while ago, and leave a suede corner at the base of my nail. Not bad if I do say so, although not quite as cool as I imagined. OPI You Don't Know Jacques! Suede:

(EDIT: By the way, I took these mostly trying to catch my little bit of nail art ... if you'd like some better pics of the color & texture of this suede polish, please go check out Scrangie's swatches)


As a random bonus, check out my mom's blue pumpkins, we're getting frost tonight so she was harvesting the last of her garden. They're still kind of green, but they do have a hint of blue & they are pretty cool looking, decorative & edible also, too bad the ridiculously long vine only produced 3 pumpkins:
