NOTD: Orange Hard Candy + OPI Black Shatter

This orange Hard Candy is from a 4-piece holiday collection, and unfortunately doesn't have a name ... it's very close to another from their normal line (that I don't remember the name of) but they're not exactly dupes.  Still, it's a very lovely orange with gold shimmer:

Then I added a coat of OPI Black Shatter - reminds me of like cooling lava:

The only downside to this polish - to the Hard Candy, not the shatter - was the removal:

Even after some attention with 100% acetone, my nails were ridiculously stained:

I can't remember ever wearing something that stained this badly.  The patched nails fared better than those without, as you see.  So if you're someone who doesn't always wear polish, like I do, I'd recommend staying away from this particular color, because you're not going to want to run around with naked nails looking like this LOL.

Thanks for reading.

  1. The color is so beautiful by itself. With the shatter it's just that much better. I'm sorry abt the staining of your nails /: That sucks .

  2. The colour is lovely, but wow, that is some bad staining! At least your cuticles still look perfect, and the nail can just be covered up :)

  3. I have this set as well and have yet to use any of them yet. I can't believe it stained that badly! Hopefully the rest in the set don't stain this way. If I ever wear it I'll have to do 4 coats of basecoat!

  8. I love the mani you did, but so sad that it stained your nails that bad! Fresh lemon juice helps to remove stains, but you probably already know that! Good luck with getting them back to normal! :)

  9. That is some serious staining! Holy Moley! Have you tried "bubble white" nail whitener...I get it at sallys. Maybe it'll get rid of those stains.

  11. This mani is so cool! I will definitely wear this as a Halloween look. The staining from the hard candy is cah-razy! I use the bubble white for staining, like Beata suggested, but that product can only do so much. Maybe if you use a little stronger mixture that the package suggests or something. I use that stuff religiously though!

  12. I wonder if you're think of Hard Candy's Lava as the like color from their regular line. I love that color!
Like Meg, I love the Bubble White (available at Sall's) for cleaning stained nails. It's very gentle and effective. Green polishes do the same thing. Good luck with it.
This look is great though, I really like it!
