Salon Express Nail Art Stamping Kit Unboxing & Review

While this is an "as seen on TV" product, I got mine at Sallys, and have spotted it at Target also.  I found out that the Salon Express kit is available on Amazon too.

Not much else to say other than what I go over in the vid ... to summarize - I love the stamper, I hate the scraper, and the plates are actually pretty nice for the price, but not as high quality as real Konad.  If you'd like to see exactly why I hate the scraper, check out my full review vid:

It's also worth mentioning that today is my 3 year Blog-ivesary =)  I don't have anything special planned other than continuing to play catch-up (I'm almost done with 2011 stuff at least LOL), but I'm remembering on the correct date this year!  Which, if you're a new follower, is a first - the last 2 years I was anywhere from I think a few days to a full week late.

Thanks for reading.

  2. This is the same kit I have. I never used "Konad" brand, but I didn't like the scraper either. I've been using an old gift card. About to go watch your video now. ;)

  4. I ordered this kit online...JUST to have it show up at Sally's not too long after.

I really like that you get a 2-ended stamper & the plates are pretty nice. I'm definitely going to start using an old card instead of that difficult scraper!

  8. The version of this that you can get at Rite-Aid comes with actual Konad plates. Which is weird. I ended up buying the version at Sally's also so that I got both sets of plates.

    Congrats on the 3rd blogiversary!

  10. This was one of my Christmas presents! I have actually managed to get some decent designs with the scraper that comes with it, but a plastic card works way better! I am off to go try and find some konad plates now for those awesome designs! BTW I have used mine with Pure Ice Silver Mercedes polish as well as the new Savvy Totally Teal polish I just got with very good success! These nail art stampers are such a wonderful way to get cool nail art even if you are artistically challenged (like me)!

  11. I actually had no luck with the stamper, it seemed to be too slippery and smudged my design when I put it on my actual nail. I even tried to file it, as I saw that was a suggestion for these kind of issues but eventually just went back to my konad stamper. Maybe I got a dud? Have you tried the SE stamper on your nails yet?

  12. Thanks for the detailed review. I live overseas and have no access to stamping kits, but I travel to the US at least once a year and plan to get some from Amazon. It seems Konad is the way to go. Thanks again! María

  13. I got this kit when I saw it at Rite Aid.I had a hard time with a detailed butterfly stamp in it, glad to know it's not me, but the plate. Also, was going to comment that the included plates vary from package to package. Personally, I have two full nail plates and only 1 dragonfly. You can also see that the outside packaging pic shows 5 plates that are not all part of your (or my) kit. I will comment again when I can find all the plates, right now I only have SE 02.

  14. If a scraper is not working (some cheaper are problematic) my advise is to take an old buffer and run it over the metal few times - the metal is not absolutely straight so by doing this you can actually make it straight and it will work fine (usually the problem is that edges are a bit "longer" than the middle part). The stamper looks very good, I wish we have it in my country. Good luck.

  15. I've been looking in all the shops here in Belgium that sell cosmetics but haven't found the stamping stuff. I guess I'm gonna have to look on the internet and find a site that sells it.

  16. First, congrats on the three years! I also thank you big time! I just purchased and got delivered the salon express this week. I agree with you that the scraper is awful but your video encouraged me and I will try a gift card or something. Additionally I will now purchase konad just based on your video and your nails. Although I am artistic and capable of freehand designs, it can be easier, faster and fun when you want to quick change like my mood usually dictates. Plus, if my friends ask me to do their nails, it is less time consuming for me. Thanks again! Very helpful!

  17. I have the salon express and when I scrape the design all the nail polish comes off. Do I need a special type of nail polish?

  18. You can add a stem by painting a thin, curved, green line leading to the flower. You can also use your fine-tipped implement to drag the paint out from the wet dot to create rays, swirls, and other designs

  19. I have Dead Sea Premier and I can't get it to work or find any instructions I hope you can find the instruction and just put it on something

  20. Absolutely love your site! I cannot believe I just found it. Can't wait til your shop is back open, because I need one of everything! Thanks for the great tips and you are right I do love you for the tip on removing glitter. Taking off The Fresh Frog of Bel Aire almost make me slit my wrists.

  21. I was wondering if this kit could be at CVS, since we don't have Rite Aid here. I'm going to look for it. Thanks for the review!
