Guest NOTD: Nubar Peacock Feathers

Mom was in love - not hard to see why =)  This is somewhat of an oldie but always a goodie, Nubar Peacock Feathers:

I have absolutely no plans this weekend other than sleeping & playing post catch up =)  As those of you who follow me on YouTube know, I'm turning March into a theme month so I really need to get my but in gear so I can include pictures with my tutorials LOL.

Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Green Water Marble for Depression Awareness + Tutorial

I try to do at least one manicure every year for Depression Awareness Month.  I think a lot of people still don't know about it, and just getting the word out there can do so much.  This year I did another water marble, like last year.  Base color is Ulta Limelight, marbling done with Limelight & Nubar Forest:

My favorite nails are - my left ring (flawless!  seriously) left thumb, right ring & thumb:

Here's the tutorial:

All my readers who are fellow bloggers, I encourage you to help spread the word also, if you haven't already =)

Thanks for reading.

TOTD: Nubar Cherry Cordial

The other TOTD I have to show you is what's still on my toes - Nubar Cherry Cordial:

It's actually got a few chips, so I'd like to change it - but sandal season is officially gone LOL, so I'm not in a huge hurry any more either, since I'm the only one who'll see them for the next 6-8 months.

NOTD: Nubar Chocolate Coffee Bean

HOW did this sit in my unworns for so long?  What?  Oh, I have a couple hundred unworns?  Well then, I guess it makes a bit more sense =P

Anyway, I love this a lot now that I finally wore it.  From the Chocolate Truffles collection, this is Nubar Chocolate Coffee Bean ... although that name doesn't explain the lovely flash of pink:

NOTD: Nubar Wildlife

I'll let the polish do the talking - this is Nubar Wildlife:

While I was wearing this at work, I stopped by the window to look at the nice day outside - and looked down to see my real nails showing one color of the duo-chrome, and the reflection showing the other!  Of course I tried to recreate this optical illusion when I got home ... my success was limited, but here are a couple of the best shots:

And a look in motion:

NOTD: Nubar Moon Shadow ... and My Worst Break Ever

Pretty, happy things first.  With plans for a big chop, I've been enjoying lovely things on my long nails, and a purple duo-chrome seemed a good choice.  Nubar Moon Shadow is a classic, and it was beautiful on, going from deep purple in most lights to almost bronze at certain angles:

Now, I think you guys know I'm pretty good being careful in situations that I consider dangerous to my nails ... and so my breaks end up happening in the dumbest circumstances.  Remember the bag of cheese break?  The pinky I snapped against my own other fingers somehow?  This takes the cake.
I'd successfully navigated 3 cases of soda & several grocery bags into the car.  A breeze sprang up & I grabbed for the skirt of my dress - purple like my nails might I add.  And somehow my thumb knocked against the idle shopping cart.
I'm warning you, this is not for the faint of heart ....
...
...
...
... if you have a weak stomach turn back now ...
...
...
...
I warned you!  I did!
Arrrrrggggghhhh!!!!!!!  OOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!  OUCH!  OUCH!  OUCH!  OUCHOUCHOUCHOUCHOUCH!  Shitmotherfuckergoddamnsonofabitch!
I put a band-aid on it, and managed to get myself & my throbbing finger home.  And then I painstakingly - and painfully, very very painfully - took off the polish  & saw the true extent of the damage:

Scary part?  It's still attached on the side.  Meaning even if I wanted to leave my vulnerable finger flesh exposed, I'd have to sever it's fleshy anchor.  Mom really hated when I kept saying that by the way.  I cut it down ... I glued the flap ... I added a patch ... & things are mostly OK now:
Good lord only knows how long that will take to grow out past the quick.  Thanks for the sympathy pains =)  & of course thanks for reading.

Guest NOTD: Mom's 2nd Konad (Sally Girl Periwinkle + bm03)

I thought this was so pretty, and it was hilarious because Mom was nitpicking it the way I normally would my own - she was frustrated with trying to exactly center the circular design, and also with the fact that some flowers had the petals pointed towards her tips, and some had the leaves pointed towards the tips.  Base color is Sally Girl Periwinkle (from a recent haul yet to be posted), stamping done with Nubar Unfaithful Red & plate bm03:

And as she's wearing this, she says to me, "So I already have an idea for my next mani ..."  LOL!

Guest NOTD: Blue. Brown & White Water Marble + Tutorial

Didn't quite get this up last night, so I'm throwing it up quick this morning before I go to work!

So, I decided to give my mom a water marble again this year for her birthday.  Started out with a base of Sally Hansen White On, marbling done with White On, Nubar Swiss Chocolate & BB Couture Adios Mo Fo:

And since I get so many questions about whether you can marble on short nails, I did a tutorial for it also:

NOTD: Red & Black Sponged Hearts - National Wear Red Day

Today is National Wear Red Day, part of the Go Red for Women heart disease awareness campaign.  Just as good of an excuse to have red & hearts on my nails as Valentine's Day =)

I started out with 2 different base colors on my nails, Orly Liquid Vinyl on 2 nails each hand, and the rest done in Nubar Fire Sparkle.  After the base was dry I applied heart stickers & sponged the opposite color over top, removed the stickers & ended up with:

I am about .... mmm 85% happy with this mani LOL.  I wish I'd gotten a little bit of a sharper edge on my hearts, I kind of wish I'd maybe done just one heart each nail, and a few of the nails ended up with a little too much polish, not as spongey of a texture as I originally intended.  These are my favorite nails; ring & thumb from each hand:

And here is the tutorial:

Are you wearing red today?

Today at grandma's we're going to attempt to make homemade pot-stickers ... I'll take pics & post them up later as long as it's not too much of a disaster =)  Thanks for reading.
