Curious about my stash? Check out my nail polish spreadsheet Polish OCD on Google Docs. I try to keep it updated as I purchase polish & have plans to add more notes to polishes that I've used.
& if you'd like to actually SEE the stash, you can check out some pics HERE - slightly outdated but my system is still the same. Just picture even fully drawers & boxes LOL
can you do a girl scout water marble my mom stinks on water marble but I do a mean pink and red water marble.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I want to congratulate you for this splendid/genius work, but
ReplyDeleteI'm having some troubles!!
My nail polish is not spreading out as it should!
And when I'm taking my nails out, some small water bubble are sticking on them!
Please some help!
I'm not sur if this will solve your problem, but she says in all of her videos to take your nails out slowly to prevent water bubbles.
DeleteAnother one is to wait for a couple of seconds and let them dry in the water.
DeleteI tried the water marble and I noticed that it works better in colder water, not so warm. ^^
DeleteYou might want to adjust your water temperature and also, water marbling only works with new/ newer polishes because older ones have already thickened.
DeleteIt works in any kind of water as long as it is filtered and brand new nail polish spreads out best and u might wanna add a light base coat to prevent bubbles.
DeleteDear Collette I think your nails look longer than mine so i wonder if you have trouble with konad designs covering your nails. If so what do how do you overcome the problem. Also you are the best. I only watch your tutorials now and ive learnt heaps. Please try and answer my question as its bugging me. Ive only just bought konad and thats the onky drama i have with it. dcatterall.dc@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteTry the Cheeky Jumbo plates they are longer and wider than any other plates. I got 6 jumbo plates for 39.00 on Amazon. I love them. My nails are not very wide but they are long and I don't need to double stamp.
Deletei tried it your style and it totally worked but when i tried the other water marble tutorial of other persons it sucks and also im only 11
ReplyDeletelol what do u think its perfect for a mom of 38 years old plz answer my question
ReplyDeleteMy oh my you are in such demand. You do realise your famous in our little nail world. I thought i was mad collecting polish like an addiction. But it is a simple little pleasure. There arnt many simple pleasures around these days and youve made it interesting and relaxing. I do wonder whether having so many colours may be too much to use before they go off. Even more reasn to practice i guess? Do u have a high pressure job and still have to deal with ur fans. Sorry to rave. I would like to know if uv managed to do anything fancy with multi hologram colours like marbling. I tried sponging and that dont work. Anyway my days just starting. Up all night doing a ferrier cut back job. frm sth aust.
ReplyDeletewe tried to make a marble nail design but each time we dropped nail polish in the water, it sunk to the bottom. Do you have any hints? Are you mixing anything with the water or nail polish?
ReplyDeleteThanks
it's the little things, like water type filtered/unfiltered. don't let the drip fall too far from the top of the water.
DeleteHi, I love you videos even though I'm not able to do any of your tutorials, they are very hard but I still like them a lot. I was wondering what special cares you have for your nails, how you have them really long mine are really small and weak,I don't bite them and I take really good care but still they are not like I want them to be so if you could help me please.
ReplyDeleteThank you, take care.
Juanita, I am no expert by any means but I've been watching Colette's videos for a little while and she has a nail tips and tricks playlist on YouTube. Try taking a Biotin supplement. I have a good one from Solaray. Also, keep your nails shaped, filed, and moisturized. And, believe it or not, a diet rich in lean proteins will help strengthen your nails. Try to limit sweets, fats, and junk foods and focus more on meats, eggs, and vegetables. This should help with your nails...it will also help to strengthen your hair! :)
DeleteJuanita, take Biotin GNC makes a great Biotin Super Biotin 6000mcg I take 2 at a time with each meal. I take up to 6 a day and my nails are super strong. It takes about a month to work into your system, but it is worth it.
DeleteHyy, i cnt ddo looks like ur marble water :( whats wrong w/ my water/my polishess?
ReplyDeleteIt Could Be The:
DeleteTemperature of the water (try keeping water out for an hour or two then trying to use it, or try straight from the tap.
Nail Polish: Old and gooey and thick nail polish won't work, try getting new nail polish, thin new and liquidy (not a word XD)
Designs: Try to quickly do the design before the water/nailpolish dries up so that it doesn't thicken and get picked up with the toothpick/q-tip or whatever you use. Also if you are pulling the design in from the outside in, NEVER start from the VERY edge, usually when you drop the polish in, the edge polish on the outside dries up, and tends to get picked up by the toothpick and ruins everything, so always start a bit inside the polish circle, not the outside.
To add to the previous user's comment:
DeleteRoom temperature filtered or bottled water works best. Your polishes can and will spread in tap water but not nearly as well as if you were using filtered or bottled.
You can use thicker polishes but each nail polish color is different. Some use different chemicals and colors to make the color you see in the bottle so not all of them will spread, depending on the "ingredients," if you will. I've found that if you have a polish that won't spread in the water, using it as your base color is a good idea so you don't end up with a 'wasted' bottle of polish.
Agreed on the design tips. Dragging from the outside in means that you start from at least the second or third ring of polish. If your polish hasn't spread all the way to the outer edge of your cup, try "anchoring" it down, as Colette says. You can find how to do that in her tutorials. Use the very tip of your orange stick or toothpick. You can even use a small needle but make sure you clean the tip after every other drag though the polish. Use a light touch for best results, and work quickly in a room with no A/C so that your polish won't dry on you before you can dip. Pull your nails out slowly after cleaning the polish off the surface and I've even found that shaking your fingers gently inside the water before you pull out can help pop bubbles, but be careful not to hit the cup with your nails; you don't want to ruin your design. Popping them immediately after pulling your fingers out is better than waiting for them to pop on their own. Hope this helps!
Sorryyy i mean water marble
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI wanna thank you for the tutorials, they are great. I did one of the water marbles and it came up quite okay for the first time trying. So tnx!
Really great tutorials. ^^
U did a great but my nail polish is not making the bulls eye how can I fix
ReplyDeletethat
not all polish works for water marbling. and not all brands work well with each other either.
DeleteHey, i really want to try a water marbling, but whenever i try there are random bubbles that form and when it comes out on my nails it looks odd.Can you tell me how to get rid of them? And btww i love your videos!
ReplyDeleteTry to shake the bottle at least 5 minutes before doing the water marble, so whatever bubbles in the bottle have time to settle out.
Deletealright thaanks!
DeleteI love your videos! I am so inspired by you! I can't keep a manicure on for more than a day because I see all the cool stuff your doing, and I want to try it! Now I spend all my allowance on nail polish just to do the designs and I do them on fake nails first so that I know how it is gonna turn out on me. Your videos are so helpful, but can u show me a cool school look?
