Guest NOTD: Savvy Blush + Maybelline Jewel's n' Berries

I think this is really soft & pretty - Mom started with Savvy Blush, which is not one of my favorites on it's own because it's just a watery, clear pink color - but with Maybelline Jewel's n' Berries sponged on the tips, it makes the perfect base color:

Gift & a Small Haul

This is the first polish I got since I made that huge Nubar haul =)  So it made me very happy.  First, my friend Sam at work gave me a gift of 4 Sephora polishes:

Weird thing is, they all have 2 names - but both appear to be in English!?  Left to right:  Argent/Double Platinum, Fushia/Pink Flamingo, Pure Prune/Pure Plum, and ... wait for it ... Brownie/Brownie.  WTH?  If one of you knows what the deal is, please - drop the knowledge on me!  =D  Also the bottles - is this just the new bottle?  Or is this what Sephora polish looks like when it's not by OPI?  I never go there so I'm clueless LOL.

I hadn't intended to stop at Ulta, even though I had 2 coupons (& a gift card I forgot to use AGAIN), but there was one like, mere steps away from the Kohls that I was at.  So I wandered in, and:

OPI Go Goth set left to right:  Unripened, Nevermore, Sanguine, Obscurity (& a dumb little lace cuff LOL).  & the Maybelline was from a display that I think had something to do with Fashion Week, it is called Gray-T-Glamour.

Thanks for reading.

The Hauls

So, I know I said I'd get this up yesterday, but ... well, I fell asleep LOL.  Usually if I do that when I wake up I'll stay up a few more hours but last night I just put on pajamas & went back to sleep.  Here's everything all laid out, with Frisky surveying the bounty:

The first few were from Sally's, buy 2 get 1 free plus one of the Sallys near me moved & sent out a $10.00 coupon for the new location:

Left to right:  China Glaze Solar Power (which I already used, in the Lava Lamp mani), Turned Up Turquoise (Neon) & Secret Peri-wink-le.

Next is Ulta, I had a coupon here too but I don't remember how much it was for:

Left to right:  from the Passport to Paradise collection, L'Oreal High Tide, Ocean Breeze & Waters Edge.  From the Salsa Sun collection, Maybelline La La Lime ... which is very close color-wise to Icing Jens Pick:

LLL has a hint of silvery shimmer that JP does not, but the base color looks almost identical in the bottle.  Sorry I don't have time to do a real comparison swatch, but if you can't find the secondary Salsa Sun display that LLL is part of, JP may be an acceptable solution.

In my search for Hidden Treasure, I ended up bringing a few other polishes home with me - this batch was from a Walgreens, Sinful Colors were buy 1 get 1 half off:

Left to right:  Revlon Minted, Sinful Colors Mint Apple, HD Nails, Let's Talk & Let Me Go.

A quick stop at a CVS:

Wet 'n' Wild Night Prowl (which I've been hunting for a couple months) & Rain Check.

An equally quick stop at Walgreens:

Sinful What's Your Name & Wet 'n' Wild Blackmail.  Both of these are much more interesting that the pics show, the sinful has this really pretty duo-chrome glitter in the black base, shifting between turquoise & purple.

And finally, FINALLY, my hard work & persistence paid off, at a Walgreens I normally have crap luck at.  Sally was buy 1 get 1 half off & this display also had some $1.00 off coupons:

From the Tracy Reese Spring 2010 display, Sally Hansen Silver Lining, Dive Depper, and Hidden Treasure x2.  From the core line, Thinking of Blue & Midnight in NY.

Happy as I was to finally track down Hidden Treasure, that display was missing Sea & Be Seen ... so my search continued.  The Walgreens near work was a miss, but as I was getting into my car I noticed this nail salon next door.  Hmmm ... I wandered in, & came out with 3 old black label OPIs:

I'd never heard of any of these so I have no idea if they're HTF?  Right to left:  My Fave Wave, Ocean Love Potion & Sun Streaked.

Finally, tracked down the last color I was really lemming for, at a Walgreens near my grandparent's house:

Sea And Be Seen & Ring My Shell.  One of the reasons I wanted S&BS was because from pics I thought it looked a lot like one of my favorite blues, Sephora by OPI Underwater Fantasy.  Turns out it's a bit darker but they are very close cousins:

Again, sorry I don't have time for an actual swatch comparison!  But I hope you all  enjoyed seeing my hauls. I think a no-buy may be in order now LOL.

Thanks for reading.

HAULS

Well, perhaps only the last needs the capital letters =)  But this is quite a load of polish, even without the big box that came in the mail.  I'll break them down into groups like I did last time LOL.

I had to stop at Ulta since I had I had a reward certificate for a free polish, plus a $3.50 coupon.  So I got OPI MPJ, Ulta Jaded, Ulta Material Girl, Ulta Bombshell

Now, if you're remembering my post like a week ago about the original version MPJ that I found in a dusty, you may be wondering what I'm doing buying a "regular" bottle.  Well, it's different from the other "regular" bottle I have.  I've heard there are up to 8 different versions of this polish, here is a shot of my 3 all together.  The first is the first I purchased, kind of brownish-grey with a turquoise flash.  The second is my dusty treasure, the original charcoal holo.  And the thrid is my newest, almost a vampy bronze with scattered holo glitter:

Worth having all 3 I think ... I just wish OPI had owned up & given them different names LOL

Then one last Claires, all of these on clearance -   Dreamsicle, Dream Catcher, Emerald City & Chunky Silver:

Dream Catcher is the one I've been looking all over creation for ... why is it always in the last place you look LOL?  That happened to me with Minty ... but I get ahead of myself =)

A quick stop to use a $5.00 Sally Coupon - Orly Lemonade & Gumdrop:

I actually thought I didn't want these colors ... until I decided I wanted to do an Easter marble with yellow & green creme pastels & realized I didn't really have any.  I didn't want to wait for my online order, so I went & grabbed these 2.

Ulta (with a 20% off coupon):  OPI Jade is the New Black

This was supposed to be part of my online order ... but it was sold out.

One last Ulta ... one last chance for Minty ... and finally sucess.  Along with a few other things LOL.  Top row:  Maybelline Minty, Ulta Limelight, Holiday in Turqs & Caicos, Always a Bridesmaid.  Bottom row:  China Glaze Light as Air (which was also sold out for my online order), Sky High Top, Sexy in the City:

Minty was actually not in its proper display, but I knew it as soon as I saw it &  snatched it up.  The Ulta polishes were but one get one free.  & China Glaze buy 2 get 1 free.  Only downside was ... I already had Sky High Top.  I had my list with me, I even checked it ... then got home & discovered I had an out of date list in my purse =(  LOL Oh well.  Be a good blue for frankening if I ever get around to it.

Now ... for the big box.  The huge haul.  Although, as I said 2 of the polishes that were supposed to be included here were sold out & I had to purchase separately:

Lots of polish in there ... I'll sort it out by brand.

Orly:  Rage (which you've already seen is AWESOME), Luxe, Shine & Snowcone:

Color Club:  High Society, Uptown Girl, Ms. Socialite, Gossip Column:

OPI:  Bling Dynasty, Meet Me on the Star Ferry, Suzi Says Feng Sui, Sonic Bloom, Electric Eel:

Aaaand finally, China Glaze:  Top row:  Grape Pop, Sugar High, Something Sweet, Heli-Yum, Flyin' High.  Bottom row:  Four Leaf Clover, Re-Fresh Mint, Peachy Keen, High Hopes, Happy Go Lucky, Lemon Fizz.

So ... back on the no-buy LOL.  Unless I find some major lemming in a dusty, I don't have anything I feel like I must have from the collections that are out right now.  Thanks for reading =)

NOTD: Purple Lattice (Maybelline Goody Plum Drop + Grape Times) + Tutorial

Although I liked the blue color combination better, I really like the designs I did with this purple version.  I actually sat down & sketched out my ideas before I started this mani, picked the ones I liked best, and then did them so that each finger was different, and had a mirror image on the opposite hand.  Base color is Maybelline Goody Plum Drop (except the reversed accent nails) and the stripes are done with Maybelline Grape Times:

Here's the tutorial (eventually ... YT is quite slow on a Saturday, unfortunately):

NOTD: Maybelline Pie In The Sky & Denim Dash

I loved this mani so much, it's on my nails again in a purple version =)  Pie in the Sky is from Maybelline's spring collection, Sweet Thing, and Denim Dash is one of the new colors recently added to their core line.  With the exception of accent nails on ring & thumb, I used PitS for my base & DD for the nail art, which I just used a liner brush to do.  I decided to call this my lattice design, and I switched it up a little on each nail:

I don't usually talk a lot about application & stuff ... if I like the color, I'm going to suffer through.  But the application on PitS was bad enough that I just want to let you guys know.  It was just gross.  DD on the other hand, which I'd actually been warned about, went on fine.  Yet, it was the reverse for the nail art - DD sucked & PitS was really smooth.  Whatever.  End result was good, if a bit on the messy side.

I kind of refined this idea & actually did some sketches before I did the purple version & accompanying tutorial.  I still actually like the blue on blue color combination better, but I like the designs I did for purple on purple.  I hope to have that up either later tonight (which I'll admit is on the doubtful side considering how late it already is...) or tomorrow.  So stay tuned =)

Guest NOTD: Maybelline Riveting Ruby

I'm going to try & just throw some pics up here.  That doesn't sound very good, but seriously, I don't have time for deep composition & reflection - like I'm every too inclined in that direction anyway LOL - as far behind as I am.  Tee is supposed to come over tonight for a mani, and I don't even have her last one up.  Fixing that now - Maybelline Salon Expert Riveting Ruby, a glittering gold-shot red that I picked up in a Big Lots haul months ago, with an accent nail that has a coat of China Glaze Cleopatra:

Going to do some more multitasking & quick pic editing.  I can't wait to show you what I'm currently wearing - actually about to remove - but I am anal enough that I can't allow myself to skip around in the timeline, so to speak.  Thanks for reading.
