NOTD: Black & Wine Water Marble + Tutorial

I wanted to do something for the holidays without being blatantly red & green - I thought this deep wine was festive without being too traditional.  I used China Glaze Don't Make me Wine as my base color, then marbled with that & China Glaze Liquid Leather:

Here's the tutorial:

Several more holiday design to come before the end of the month =)  Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Color Club Hipnotic - Magnetic Force Polish

I picked up some of the Color Club Magnetic Force polishes at Hot Topic, and then I started seeing them all over the place - under the labels of different brands! If I recall, Finger Paints didn't even bother to change the names of the colors, and I saw another set of dupes from another brand that doesn't come to mind right now, but come on - come up with your own stuff polish companies!

This was another favorite, both for the juicy berry color, and for the design that I ended up doing, by holding the magnet at alternating angles every other nail.  This is Color Club Hipnotic from their Magnetic Force collection:

I did take one vid of this but upon review, it being an extremely dreary cloudy overcast crappy day it didn't really do the polish even as good of justice as the pics, so I skipped uploading it.

Thanks for reading =)

TOTD: China Glaze Reggae to Riches

This is actually still on my toes & at this point badly in need of replacement - China Glaze Reggae to Riches:

Not sure when I'm going to actually go to bed, so I'm going to do some more editing, maybe some more posting or schedule a few posts for tomorrow.  This is still from November, so I've got a ways to go  to show you guys my holiday nails =)

Thanks for reading.

NOTD: OPI Congeniality is my Middle Name

Another from OPI's Miss Universe collection, Congeniality is my Middle Name is a gorgeous color but my one warning would be that the sparkle in it isn't very stable - it sinks down & collects however you have the bottle sitting, all on the bottom if it's sitting upright, or to the side if it's laying down.  I almost didn't buy it because it just looked like a boring creme until I picked it up & saw all the fuchsia shimmer waiting to be mixed back in.  Considering that, application was surprisingly good & even:

Hope to have time tomorrow to record a tut & get the crackles from my last haul swatched so I can get that uploaded as well.  Thanks for reading.

NOTD: The Evolution of Revlon Facets of Fuchsia

I have to start out by saying that this color was part of my most recent hauls, & I've purchased enough that it's time for a no-buy =)  I hope to have time to put together a haul post & vid this weekend but we'll see.  They're always too short!

When I spotted Revlon Facets of Fuchsia on the shelf at Target, I like stopped in my tracks to grab it.  I don't have the color to compare myself, but it looks like it's a very near dupe for Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance:

You can check out swatches of Bad Romance on these blogs:  All Lacquered Up, Vampy VarnishScrangie, & many other blogs.  And to see a head-to-head comparison of the two check out Candy Coated Tips.

Now, over time I've come to really like matte-ifying glitter polishes, so after a couple days I added Matte Magic over top:

And after a few days of that, without time to fully change my mani, I decided to gloss it up again with a layer of China Glaze Golden Enchantment, a golden holo top coat that really changed the look of the manicure, it kind of washed out the black base & made the whole nail look more purple in some light:

Which version is your favorite?  Revlon seems to do a pretty decent job when they set out to copy a color - sometimes (arguably I'm sure) even better than the original (Perplex anyone?).

NOTD: PHD Vampire Challenge (Zoya Pinta + Rihana)

So, this week's Polish Hoarder Disorder Challenge was vampire nails.  Not like, vampires on your nails, but what kind of manicure would a vampire have?  You can check out the Challenge Gallery HERE:

Something dark & chic I thought, but with a hit of something sharp ... I was going to do a tutorial, but the colors were just too dark to show up on video.  I started with a base of 2 coats of Zoya Pinta, gorgeous vampy purple creme, and I let that dry completely.  I cut painter's tape into a chevron shape, covered the tip of my finger, and then sponged the base with Zoya Rihana.  I am in LOVE:

Even being in love, I'm still only 90% happy LOL.  I had some bubbling, I'm not sure if from the uneven texture of the sponged area, I'm actually thinking my Seche is the more likely culprit.  I also wish I'd made Rihana just a little intense, sponged it a bit further down.  But that's OK, because I'm going to do this in another color combination so I can do a tutorial, so I can hopefully make the adjustment then =)
