NOTD: Capitol Couture Water Marble + Tutorial

Another Hunger Games inspired manicure, this one using polish from China Glaze's Capitol Colors collection.  The base color is Fast Track, then marbling is done with Fast Track, Hook and Line, & Smoke and Ashes:

I got really well positioned dips with this marble & had a ton of favorite nails:

And of course here is the tutorial:

Guest NOTD: Orly Sea Gurl

I am 99.5% sure that I've correctly identified this manicure of my mom's as Orly Sea Gurl from their Birds of a Feather collection - it's in my "backlogged pictures" pile/box, looks right, and rings a bell.  But I have that 0.5% of doubt LOL.

I'd like to wear this myself & I have a vague memory of purchasing it with something complimentary that I wanted to marble with but I couldn't tell you what off the top of my head.  Oh well - here is Sea Gurl, what I think I would describe as a slightly metallic deep taupe:

More posts to come ... maybe eventually even some posted during normal daylight hours!

Thanks for reading.

Small Butter London Haul

I was excited to receive these colors from a Butter London product rep:

Here's a closer look at the bottles - left to right Disco Biscuit, Royal Navy & Yummy Mummy - which as I mention in the vid was supposed to be a lip gloss which is currently still on it's way =)

I have a bunch of other haul vids that I recorded & uploaded & then never got around to taking bottle pictures for the blog post ... in addition to all the NOTD pics I have to edit ... and finish up books from (ugh) last year & then start this years list ... in other words plenty to do but for now I'm headed out to lunch with Mom LOL.

Thanks for reading.

Guest NOTD: Rimmel Steel Grey

The name is misleading - this is definitely a taupe.  But I guess "Steel Taupe" wouldn't make much sense LOL.  Here is Mom wearing Rimmel Steel Grey:

As a side note - with this manicure mom accidentally put top coat on instead of base coat.  I told her she should take it off but she insisted she wanted to "experiment" by just doing base coat on top of that - well, long story short the next day came with the polish coming off several nails completely - a cleanly popped off nail shaped piece of polish LOL.  I don't know that she'd welcome me sharing this "senior moment" with you all (we'll see soon I guess)  but I think we all have our spacey moments.  So if you're ever having a moment & make this mistake - just start over!

NOTD: Butter London All Hail the Queen

This one was .... odd.  Butter London makes decent polishes - not worth the $14 price tag I don't think, but if you catch them on sale you might indulge.  But All Hail the Queen hid it's beauty in almost every light, and I didn't get enough time in the sun to really enjoy it.  & that honkin big square bottle is mighty awkward also, even with the fake part of the top off.  Anyway, if you enlarge the sun pic, you'll get just a hint of the different colored shimmers that are hiding in this apparently drab polish:

Guest NOTD: Zoya Jules

When I originally wore this, I was a little disappointed - such a pretty color, and I just didn't like it on myself.  But mom wanted to give it a try, and I think that Zoya Jules looks much better on her:

Mom is currently sporting her very first crackle-polish mani, so I'll have pics of that up in the next few days =)  Thanks for reading.

NOTD: China Glaze FYI

From the great OMG collection, China Glaze FYI is a taupe holo ... sounds a little weird - looks awesome:

Here's a look in motion:
You know who I'd like to see do a holographic collection?  Zoya.  Do you hear me Zoya??!  Because they actually seem to listen to their fans, and no other company seems to want to give us what we all desire =)

NOTD: Zoya Jules

Zoya Jules is a really, really pretty color - taupe with a lot of gold sparkle. Unfortunately, I didn't like it on me at all:

Honestly, if it had been earlier in the evening I probably would have taken it off immediately - but it was late so it lasted a whole day.  I thought maybe it would grow on me ... but it did not LOL.  Mom loves it too, and I think it will go better with her skintone so I'll try & post a Guest NOTD when she wears it =)  Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Orly Prince Charming + Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure + Matte Magic

Mouthful of a title & a boatload of pics so I'll just get right to it.  Base color is Orly Prince Charming, which is kind of on the boring side all by itself:

But add some Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure & it becomes more interesting & I think great for fall with the flashes of orange & green:

Here's a look in motion:

And then after a day I topped it with Matte Magic & actually liked it even better:
