NOTD: Acid Leopard

This was really, for me, out of the box.  But I had a lot of fun with it & got a ton of great compliments too.  I was inspired by an Acid Leopard eye makeup tutorial I saw on YouTube, and so I translated it into a manicure.  I created the rainbow by sponging with Icing Hot Date, Suntan Lotion & Blue Carribean - all 3 from the Cancun Spring Break collection.  The leopard design I did with a Black Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen:

& I've now got a blacklight, just for some fun pics!

I think I had this on for a full week, and towards the end I added some China Glaze Matte Magic top coat:

Here's the tutorial:

And here's the eye makeup tutorial by Klaire de Lys that inspired me:

What do you guys think of this neon-bright nail art look?  Sometimes it's good to step a bit outside of your comfort zone =)

NOTD: Ruby Kisses Tropical Green + China Glaze Techno Teal

So, as I mentioned in my last post, I nearly duped one of my own manicures again - I wanted something bright so I started with a base of Ruby Kisses Tropical Green, then I sponged the tips with China Glaze Techno Teal:

And I loved it!  & then ... I started getting that feeling ... that deja vu feeling.  After some searching I found a mani I'd done way back in January 2010 with China Glaze Entourage sponged with China Glaze Watermelon Rind - you can check out the original post HERE.  It was more green on green, and this one was like neon green with teal, but they are definitely very similar.  I suppose the longer I blog the more often & likely this is to happen LOL!

NOTDs: Neon Overload (TWO China Glaze Poolside Collection Rainbow Water Marbles + Tutorials!)

In the end, I really liked both of these, and I feel like they give very different vibes even though they are the same colors.  The first gives more interesting contrast, with the transition from blue back to pink, but I had some issues with bubbles & really wasn't too happy with the tutorial although I did upload it & maybe you guys can have a few laughs, heh.  It doesn't exactly suck, I just felt kind of fumbly & mushy-mumble-mouthed.  The second, even though it's a more traditional ROYGBIV spectrum (if without the IV) it honestly puts me in mind more of a tie-dye than a real rainbow =).  I had much less bubbling for whatever reason - water marbling baffles even me occasionally - and I feel like the tutorial is much better.  Anyway, for all that they're very similar, and since I didn't get the first one up last night I decided to post them together.

I got SOOO many compliments on both of these.  Even though I've got something crazy on my nails a lot of the time, I think these have really been catching people's eye because they are so BRIGHT.  I am not including any flash shots for either version because they just all came out like crap, the flash totally washed out all the colors.

This first one was my NOTD on Wednesday & Thursday.  I used the entire Poolside collection:  Pool Party, Flip Flop Fantasy, Sun Worshipper, Towel Boy Toy, Kiwi Cool-Ada &Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.  I liked the blue & green best so chose to put those closer to the cuticle so they could show up more.  My favorite nails were both pinkies & my left ring, even though it didn't pick up any orange:

I'm sure I don't need to tell you all how difficult neons are to photograph.  But these are truly neon, the exact same shade as highlighters - and I have the proof!  I snapped this at work:

Here is the first tutorial:

OK, the second version was my NOTD on Friday & I've still got it on today.  I may wear it all weekend =)  Same 6 colors, but this time I really wanted to do a traditional rainbow order, starting pink at the cuticle & progressing through orange, yellow, green to blue.  I kind of wish this collection had also included a true purple neon, maybe instead of the kind of coral-pink one.  As I said above, this really reminds me of a tie-dye.  I wish I'd gotten more "petals" overall on my right hand, but my favorite nails are my left middle & thumb:

Here's the second tutorial:

Well, that's everything =)  I hope you enjoyed your neon fix for the day LOL.  Thanks for reading.

NOTD: China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise + Hidden Treasure

Another manicure that I "stretched."  On the bottle this China Glaze polish is labeled Turned Up Turquoise (Neon) - so does that mean there's a non-neon version out there somewhere?  Either way, it was tricky to photograph as neons usually are, it is a little darker & just more vibrant than I was able to capture:

For the second day I added Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure.  I had a video of this but decided against uploading it - the hard to capture color combined with less than ideal lighting made it less than impressive in motion.  The still shots don't do it justice either but I do have a few:

NOTD: Neon Twist Water Marble + Tutorial

For the most part, I'm just going to let these pics speak for themselves =)  I just have to say, this is even BRIGHTER in person, these are true neons, all 3 from last summer's Electro Candy collection.  My base color was plain white, Color Club French Tip, and then I marbled with Color Club Pure Energy, CC What A Shock!, & CC Ultra Violet.  Enjoy:

A shot of the bottles together, just 'cuz:

The tutorial:

And, a quick tut on clean up after the marbling:

I've got to go sit & stare at my nails now LOL =D  Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Very Neon Zebra

This is really bright (my nails look like a green highlighter as you'll see below). And while I liked it when I first did it, wearing it all day it's growing on me even more. I was going to take it off because of the seams, but I've decided to wear it another day. I'm kind of finally getting it through my head that I'm the only one that notices them, because I know where they are & I'm also looking way closer than most people would, zooming in so close with the pictures - if I hold my arm out straight & just look from a normal distance, even I am hard put to see the seams.

I almost didn't get the sun shots today, it was gloomy-gray cloudy & crap when I got home from work & really didn't look like it would clear up for the rest of the evening, but by the time I'd finished my yoga it had blown clear & I took advantage. Take a look at Color Club What a Shock Konied with China Glaze DV8 & plate m57:

So, do you spot the seams at first glance? =) If you can't see them, click to enlarge - I'm impressed as I was before when I used this plate how well it's designed to match if you can just make it all line up on the nail. Even my ring finger, where I was off a "row" of stripes, isn't too bad.
