NOTD: Ornate Holiday Teal & Gold Water Marble + Tutorrial

For my third and final look for Formula X for Sephora I decided to go with a water marble.  I used Enigma for my base color, then marbled with Enigma, Orbit and Iconic:

I really loved the variety that I got - all the nails similar, but of course none the same; the fact that the index and ring fingers ended up more light and the pinkie and middle more dark on both hands was a happy accident:

You can check out the tutorial here:

These Formula X colors have been very versatile to work with - not all of the colors work for marbling of course, but it didn't take too many tries to find this combination & they performed together well.

Guest NOTD: Orly Royal Velvet

Not much to say for this one - just Mom wearing Orly Royal Velvet:

You can see the original post on my nails HERE, there are some shots that show the duo-chrome to a bit better effect, but that's just because it's easier to take picture of my own nails - the duo-chrome was definitely still visible on short nails =)

Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Color Club Alter Ego

Well, hopefully you're able to enjoy some outdoor time this lovely holiday weekend, but if you're stuck inside due to heat or severe weather or whatever else, allow me to contribute to entertaining you:

Color Club Alter Ego is, in a word, awesome.  Purple, gold, quite nearly a duo-chrome shimmer - pretty enough that it didn't need any stamping or anything added, it stood on it's own & I wasn't bored with it even after several days:

So nice that I have tomorrow off work, so hopefully I'll have time for some more posting then =)  Thanks for reading.

Guest NOTD: Anise Crocodile Tears

Mom wanted to wear this one as soon as I picked it up, and even more after I wore it.  This dark vampy green is Anise Crocodile Tears:

Just a hint of a duo-chrome to it as well =)

Thanks for reading.

Guest NOTD: Nubar Peacock Feathers

Mom was in love - not hard to see why =)  This is somewhat of an oldie but always a goodie, Nubar Peacock Feathers:

I have absolutely no plans this weekend other than sleeping & playing post catch up =)  As those of you who follow me on YouTube know, I'm turning March into a theme month so I really need to get my but in gear so I can include pictures with my tutorials LOL.

Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Nubar Wildlife

I'll let the polish do the talking - this is Nubar Wildlife:

While I was wearing this at work, I stopped by the window to look at the nice day outside - and looked down to see my real nails showing one color of the duo-chrome, and the reflection showing the other!  Of course I tried to recreate this optical illusion when I got home ... my success was limited, but here are a couple of the best shots:

And a look in motion:

NOTD: Ulta Purple Haze

Slightly duo-chrome in real life but not really at all in pics, just very very pretty.  This is Ulta Purple Haze:

Upcoming for the blog - I have 2 trips worth of state fair pics to edit, not only food but flowers & bonsai trees & all kinds of creative arts.  I had excellent retail therapy today so I'll have another haul vid/post coming.  And from a shopping trip over the weekend, on my nails right now - have you guys seen Revlon's Facets of Fuchsia???  Now I don't have it myself to compare but I'm going to go ahead & call it a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance.  It was sitting innocently enough in a new 3-piece glitter addition to Revlon's normal display in Target (along with a blue too bright to be a dupe to Across the Universe & a weird pink creme + silver hex combination).  It's very gorgeous & about to be matte-ified =)  Pics should be up tomorrow or Thursday & I'll include links to some other bloggers that have swatched BR.

Thanks for reading.

NOTD: Nubar Moon Shadow ... and My Worst Break Ever

Pretty, happy things first.  With plans for a big chop, I've been enjoying lovely things on my long nails, and a purple duo-chrome seemed a good choice.  Nubar Moon Shadow is a classic, and it was beautiful on, going from deep purple in most lights to almost bronze at certain angles:

Now, I think you guys know I'm pretty good being careful in situations that I consider dangerous to my nails ... and so my breaks end up happening in the dumbest circumstances.  Remember the bag of cheese break?  The pinky I snapped against my own other fingers somehow?  This takes the cake.
I'd successfully navigated 3 cases of soda & several grocery bags into the car.  A breeze sprang up & I grabbed for the skirt of my dress - purple like my nails might I add.  And somehow my thumb knocked against the idle shopping cart.
I'm warning you, this is not for the faint of heart ....
...
...
...
... if you have a weak stomach turn back now ...
...
...
...
I warned you!  I did!
Arrrrrggggghhhh!!!!!!!  OOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!  OUCH!  OUCH!  OUCH!  OUCHOUCHOUCHOUCHOUCH!  Shitmotherfuckergoddamnsonofabitch!
I put a band-aid on it, and managed to get myself & my throbbing finger home.  And then I painstakingly - and painfully, very very painfully - took off the polish  & saw the true extent of the damage:

Scary part?  It's still attached on the side.  Meaning even if I wanted to leave my vulnerable finger flesh exposed, I'd have to sever it's fleshy anchor.  Mom really hated when I kept saying that by the way.  I cut it down ... I glued the flap ... I added a patch ... & things are mostly OK now:
Good lord only knows how long that will take to grow out past the quick.  Thanks for the sympathy pains =)  & of course thanks for reading.
