My Birthday Present - Another Hole in My Head

I'd been considering getting my lip done for a while - what better excuse than turning 30?

I go back to work tomorrow LOL - I suppose it will cause a small ruckus for the first day or so but I don't think it will be that big of a deal.  Maybe a bigger deal online for actually posting it, but my normal policy is to delete any purely hater-ish comments after laughing about them (some are such ... lame attempts at spite I guess) & I think I will have to exercise that even more with comments for this vid.

What do you guys think?  Do you have any piercings?

Thanks for reading =)

  2. Well I think its cool! And you are so right about doing what makes you happy, I finally got my nose done about 2 years ago after thinking about it for 10 lol. I got some rude comments from even the people closest to me, but they are dealing with it now, cuz im not changing me! :D So congrats! P.S. Love your nails!

  4. What a great b-day present to yourself, I think it looks great :) I don't have any facial piercings myself but I think if I did I'd get my eyebrow done. I'm more of a tattoo person overall, I have a few of those and am planning on a half sleeve sometime in the next year or two. I agree with you, you should do the things you want to do no matter what other people think! If it makes you happy that's all that matters :)

  5. I have two in each of my ears, haha but that doesn't really count. I'd be covered in piercings if I didn't play sports, haha. I say go for it!

  6. It suits you! I like the way it looks :) And I don't have any piercings anymore, I had my eyebrow pierced at age 18, am now 35 so I grew a bit tired of it after a while :)

  7. I had my 'ladies' pierced, but unfortunately they were rejected (pushed out). Let's just say that I'm top heavy (38HH) and too much flesh pushing on the barbell pushed them out. I love most piercings. I think they are great and add character to the person wearing them. Some you just wonder why, lol. Same for tattoos (I have 13). But you do what makes YOU happy and everyone else can get used to it and accept it. :-)Hope you birthday was a great one!! How many bottles of polish did you get? LOL!

  8. Congrats! :D It looks surprisingly good on you ^^ Just one little advice: check your gum from time to time. My friend got the same kind of piercing a few years ago, and he loved it, too, but it irritated his gum in the long run, so he had to take it out :S I think his case is kind of unique, but you can never know :) Oh, and let us know how your colleagues react :D

  11. A belated congrats on your 30th, and also for taking the plunge into facial piercings. :) I've had a nostril ring since my mid-teens, but decided to add a septum ring a while after I became a mom - I was 27. The kids at my DD's daycare love to ask why I have it. ;)

  15. Happy birthday! I'm not brave enough to get any piercings. I had my tragus pierced once and it got horribly infected - that was enough to cure me. But...I'm always up for a new tattoo! LOL

  16. Hey I love your new piercing. I've had my lip pierced for 6 years now, my nostril for 4 and my ears stretched for 4 as well. They are up to 0g now. I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but www.bodyartforms.com has lots of body jewelry and aftercare stuff. Their prices are really good too. One of the products I really like from there are http://www.bodyartforms.com/productdetails.asp?jewelry=labret&dwzPage=5&ProductID=2568&index=6
That's a bioplast labret with an attachment to put different balls on the labret. It's protects your teeth from wear and you can change out the balls to different colors and sizes. Oh yeah and they also have a lot of neat ear plugs and some really cool hanging designs.

Another community to check out is http://stretched.livejournal.com/profile. This community has helped me out tremendously with ear stretching. The memories section has been a life saver as far as safe stretching and aftercare as well as what to do if there are any problems.
Anyway. I just wanted to share some stuff I have learned on my bodymod journey and where to get cool jewelry. I hope you have fun with your ears and labret!

  17. Hi Colette,

your piercing looks really good on you! I myself have been thinking about getting my lips pierced - I'd like to have a lip ring - but so far I haven#t had the guts to do it. Not so much because auf the pain but because of my job... You never know what the boss might think of it...

Hope you're enjoying your piercing! What did the colleaques say?

    Greetings from Germany,

  20. I love you!! So awesome! I am a firm believer in doing things that you want to do for yourself. I totally agree that if you didn't do it you would always wonder what it would have been like if you did. Congrats! It looks awesome =)

  21. It suits you very well, and happy birthday :)

Mine used to be pierced in the same place, had it for well over five years and loved it, but I had to have abdominal surgery and they forced me to take it out, and I was never able to put it back in for, by the time I was out of hopsital, it had healed over on the inside :( I have considered getting it repierced, but just don't think it's "me" anymore. I was happy that I had it while I had it, though.

    Kind regards,
    Anna.

  22. Really a special present :-) I still wear the nostril piercing I did 15 yrs ago (I was in London and I finally realized my dream - when I came back home it was too late for my parents to prevent/say something). I have a navel piercing too (removed during pregnancy and then put back when belly disappeared, I really missed it). Completely agree with you, enjoy your new "hole in the head" and brush aside stupid comments!

  23. cute! i literally felt your anxiety right before the piercing through my computer! its difficult to explain but i guess that would be the "Rush" everyone talks about!

  25. You ROCK!...it looks great. Remember, you'll never be able to please everyone, so if you please yourself at least you know that one person will be happy, the most important person, YOU.

  27. I hope you had a great birthday, the lip piercing really suits you and you sooooo don't look 30! I have my tongue pierced and also another piercing which only my hubby ever sees! ;0)

  28. Ut-oh... look at you!! I love it and it really does suit you! I want my nose pierced but I'm a big weenie and I'm totally afraid to do it. That and I think my mother-in-law would die from a coronary the moment she saw it, lol.

Happy birthday again and hope this is your best year yet!~

  29. Girl! I read your blog & watch your youtubies all the time, i'm a fellow polish fiend. I shake my head that you even have to mention hateration in regards to you living your own life, how rude. Happy birthday to you as well!
at any rate, fabulous piercing and you have a beautiful smile! your new piercing totally frames it too, looks like a great fit for you. I have my monroe pierced, have had it for about 3 years now and people around me hated it at first! But I LOVE it and always have, and it's so very "me" that I feel naked without it.
H2Ocean is my favorite piercing-care product line, they have a sea-saltwater enzyme spray for aftercare that is bomb, so refreshing! Also, sea-salt mixed with warm water as a mouthwash keeps it clean & keeps the healing process movin along. Dr. Bronner's is a wonderful soap for piercings, I've used it for the whole time I've had my piercing and have only had one problem with it in the 3+ years I've had it. Good luck & many birthday wishes, thanks for having a dope blog. :) -CiCi

  31. Looks great on you ! that has been my dream-piercing for a while, but I have gum and teeth problems so I just can't do any mouth piercings :(
I had the tongue pierced some years ago but rejected it, and I have a few ear holes :)

With a little late, happy birthday :D

  32. Came across your blog after watching your online tutorials. First of all, awesome work :) & secondly I got my lip pierced about two months ago as well. Mine would swell up every once in awhile for a few weeks, and taking it out the first time was a huge ordeal (got a 14 g ring instead of a stud). But after that it's easy as pie & I love it.

Thanks for all the great tips!

  34. I used to have my ears and nose done, and my eyebrow done twice. (Nose at 12, eyebrow at 13.) I took them out about 3 years ago after they started getting in the way & I was up for a change. (Waxing around an eyebrow piercing hurts!)

Happy (belated) birthday & the piercing looks great on you!

    Happy birthday, dear Colette!
    Happy birthday to youuuuuuuu!

Your piercing looks great! I'm quite a bit older than you, 39, and I still have some piercings! I've had my nose done since I was 12, my belly done since I was 23. Plus I still have 4 holes in each ear still open. Take no notice of the nay sayers, my lovey. As long as YOU'RE happy!

  37. I think it looks lovely on you, some people don't suit a piercing there but you do! I have my ears, navel and nose pierced... I'm 33 tomorrow and I'm getting my nip done as a present to myself, so... happy birthday, birthday piercing twin! LOL

  39. My lip was my most painful piercing! It bled a little due to the piercer hitting a small blood vessel. I had a bruise under the piercing for about 5 days.

My tongue didn't hurt much compared to the lip. Now my stretched ears... Owwww!!!! My nose was totally painless. I want to get so many more piercings now, haha! Mainly my tragus, septum, maybe my other nostril.

I also have 2 tattoos, and just like for piercings, I want way way more.

I love my lip piercing. It was so worth the pain and swelling. I now have a horseshoe type of jewelry instead of the original barbel, and it's much easier to eat with that instead.

  40. Sorry but I just find a hole in any part of my body other than my normal earrings to be disgusting. I can't undertand that people want to have them, I mean they hurt and then they get in your way with normal stuff. I friend of a friends that I knew took hers off after a couple of problems kissing guys. But, and this is important, I always respect what other people want to do with their bodies as long as they leave mine alone. So, if you like it, then that's all that's really important right? Anybody who tells you anything horrid, just delete them. And by the way, thanks for your blog, I am investigating into Nail Art with stamping plates, specially Konad, so I'll coming around here from tiem to time :-)

  41. The piercing looks great on you!
I presently have over a dozen piercings, including a couple in my face. I've had more in the past but a cluttered face is not a pretty one! My most notable would be my bridge piercing, which I love as it's so uncommon.
I have my lip pierced in the same place as you and haven't had any issues with it. I find bars to be uncomfortable though and so have to wear a ring. It's my second time with a central lip piercing as my first attempt ended when the spiral jewellery I was wearing proved to be too small and due to swelling, it cut through my lip. So, if you do decide to change to a ring or curved barbell, make sure to have a bar to hand if your lip swells for whatever reason!

Love the nails, I've been stealing so many of your designs x]
    xx
