FAQ: Crackle/Shatter Comparison

It's really too bad that I don't have any of the crack polishes from back in the day, live Revlon, but I do have 4 different brands (China Glaze Crackle Glaze, OPI Shatter, Sally Hanson Crackle Overcoat & Kelier Crack Polish) & I finally got around to shooting this on Friday, editing yesterday & now uploading today =)  Enjoy:

Crack polishes are not my favorite, but they're kind of growing on me.  What do you think of them?

Thanks for reading.

  2. wow. thanks for all you work! I love this post! I like how you showed that slanting brush strokes make slanted crackle. That was kind of cool.

I dunno though I don't really get the whole crackle trend... but I might get the sally hanson gold one, It's on sale.. (lol) just to try it. I don't really buy things I don't like, but I kind of like the gold one. I will try.

  3. I really like the way the Kelier polishes cracked! Really different from what I've been seeing.

  4. I like crackle polish, but it really depends on the brand, the opi and china glaze crackle makes for me too long stripes. I used LCN crackle polish and this one works for me best as it makes different crackles :)

The Kelier is nice, it has a different crackling, but it takes bit too long. I thing crackling is good if u do not have much time and need quickly a nail design :)

  5. Excited to try the Sally Hansen brand crackle. I have OPI black shatter and silver shatter but unfortunately, OPI and China Glaze are limited in my area. The closest Ulta is over a half hour away, so I can't always just take a quick drive there like I can to CVS or Rite Aid. And my local Sally Beauty is pretty small, they rarely have things like the China Glaze crackles or limited colors in stock.

  6. I'm very interested in the silver crackle now. I didn't think it would look that good but I LOVE it over the black. Thanks for making this awesome vid!

I have a kelier, but i gave up before it crackled completely!
Thank you I didn't, know I just thought it didn't work!!
Finaly, my favorite pattern is linear like when you put polish naturaly.

  11. Thank you so much for this FAQ. I love love love crackle and shatter polish on other people, sadly not on me :(
However, out of all of them, I am drawn to the China Glaze Crushed Candy. Might just have to experiment on my friends!

  12. I like crackle polish. I use the crackle polish from Essence, although I think OPI has the best cracking pattern. Too bad it's just too expensive for me :)

  13. Great comparison Colette!! I am a picky crackle/shatter person, don't really care for big cracks I prefer the tiny cracks type. But I love seeing your video comparing them next to each other. And I think I will pick up the one from born pretty since it does crackle differently then the others. :D Thanks heheehe

  14. I felt the same about crackle until I started using them... I kinda like them even tho I only have 4, im thinking of picking up some more

  16. I stood in line at Ulta for new crackles yesterday...got the OPI silver and white and Sally Hansen's pink. I have the pink on over a cheapie Sally Hansen white polish I picked up and it looks GREAT! My first grade girls were obsessed with it today!

  17. I meant to mention in my other post (and realized that I forgot to), that I've used polish thinner on my OPI Black Shatter before when it started getting thick and it helped it a lot and did not affect the shatter effect at all.

  18. Great vid. I admit I loooove crackle/shatter. I didn't get all the sally hansens but I do have all the china glazes and i have all but white of the opi's

  20. The good thing about crackle polishes is that they can mask crappy polishes with huge streaks and ugly colur. :P I just might have to get some more, right now I only have black by OPI and pale pink by Isadora (the latter looks great over Essie Mint candy apple BTW).

I don't know if you mentioned this, but does Kelier stay wet the whole time it takes for the crackles to form? o_O I love their sophisticated crackle pattern but couldn't stand it if it takes forever for them to dry...

  21. Thank you for this video! I can't understand everything beacuse my english is a bit poor, but your tips are very useful for me anyway, thank you!!!! My favourite is the Kelier crackling style. I guess it's similar to new Kleancolor crackles, isn't it? :D
