NOTD: Halloween Candy Corn + Tutorial

It's almost the middle of the month & this is only my 2nd Halloween look!  I'm going to run out of time for everything rattling around in my head LOL.

Candy corn is such a traditional part of Halloween, but I did a candy corn inspired water marble last year & so I wanted to do something in a different direction.  I started with a base of Wet n Wild French White & Orly Twilight, then did the yellow & orange with L'Oreal Yellow Seahorse & Coral Starfish, and the outline with Wet n Wild Black Creme:

Overall I'm pretty happy, although I have a tendency to pick apart my freehand art.  This one, the biggest mystery is that my right hand seems to have turned out better than my left somehow!  Maybe because I am even more careful when I'm painting with my off-hand?

I know I said last post I wasn't going to tease about what I had coming tomorrow but I can't help it ... I went & got the Nails Inc magnetic polish at Sephora!  & I am very excited to try it =)

Thanks for reading.

  2. Very cute! Often I paint my dominant hand better than the other and it's usually done second (because I've figured out what corrections I need to make after painting the first hand)!

  3. very fun! but just out of curiosity, how do you keep you nails this long? I'm amazed! Sadly, I can't grow mine very long because they totally brake off.

  4. Wow! I just was at Sally Beauty this past week looking for a good orange to do something similar! LOL! I ended up picking up Orly Crush On You and I plan to use Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow with it. The only difference is that I planned to do the candy corn facing the opposite direction and tape off the nails to do the black instead of trying to free hand it. Looks really cute though, hope mine turns out just as good! I'll have to post a pic on the Facebook page when I do it. This week I'm wearing China Glaze It's Alive.

  6. PROUD GOLD UNICORN - check out my Nail Maintenance vid in the Tips & Trick playlist for my full routine. I do occasionally get a tear or break but you can check out my tutorial on silk wrap patching for how I save those nails =)

MAGGIE - the type of brush can vary depending on the design, almost all of mine I've just picked up at Sallys =)
