NOTD: Extreme Green Water Marble + Tutorial

There'll be lots of green in the near future =)  Thought I might as well get started with a bang LOL.  For my Extreme Green water marble I started out with a base color of China Glaze Paper Chasing, then marbled PC, China Glaze Jolly Holly, Sally Hansen Emerald City, Savvy Andrea's Mint & China Glaze White on White:

My favorite nails - left ring, middle & index, right thumb:

And a few of my experiments - you can see what the combination would have looked like with a white base, as well as some of my other color combinations, and the other clover designs that were turning out a little too big to fit on my nail:

And of course the tutorial:

I was able to track down the final Tronica polish today!  I went to a Sally's in St. Paul that I'd never been to before & now I have them & OMG & Kaleidoscope all in neat rows on my desk getting ready for pics & swatches.  Very pretty, even if China Glaze does have such a limited color palette when they thing holo ... Tronica is not a dupe for OMG, but the colors are the same.  The same as Kaleidoscope as well with the exception of 2 colors.

Thanks for reading.

  21. Hi there! I love watching your videos on marbling, you're such a pro! I've been lurking a while and wanting to try it for a while now.
Last night was the night! I wanted something special for St. Pats and when I saw your entry here I _had_ to do it! I've posted a few photos at my flickr account, if you're interested to see them just let me know and I'll send you a link. (don't wanna spam _your_ blog with my photos. ;)

  22. SUZZ - I always use room temperature filtered water =)

LORE - no, it takes a lot of experimenting to find the ones that work =)

ILOVELEOPARDPRINT - Kind of but not exactly =) A happy accident I guess LOL

ANON#1 - there really is't a best brand, it's all trial & error =) I do recommend a small cup, but don't use styrofoam as polish can make it dissolve & cause a huge mess! It's on my to-do list to do a comparison between taping & lotion or vaseline/chapstick, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. A few viewers have told me though that they can leave a residue in the water that makes it harder to do the next designs, which is why I've stuck with tape so far =)

BUTTERFLY - check out some of my tutorials & also my Tips & Tricks playlist on YouTube =)

ANON#2 - there really isn't a best brand, it's all trial & error to find the colors that work best

JEN - I'd love to see your results =) Feel free to post a link or even post them on my Facebook wall to share with everyone there!

  26. I tried water marbling on my acrylic nails today and it's harder than you make it look. I have one question. When I take my nails out of the water they have water drops on them, but they dry that way, like little bubbles. How can I avoid those?

  27. that turned out impressively awesome!!! love it!

  31. I LOVE your blog. BUT, I've really never looked at a blog before. You said in one of your videos that you have an info section (discussing clean up, etc.) but I can't find it! I am also wondering what size/type of cup you use for marbling? Thank you so much for this site - it is a blast! Jen

  32. ANON - if I mention the information box in my vids, I'm usually referring to the box below the video =) the tips & tricks playlist is usually linked there as well. the cup I use is just a 5 oz paper cup

  46. Wow, this is sure amazing....I was looking at Ebru water painting and your youtube on these nails popped up as a choice. Glad I saw it because it is very creative and inspiring. It's the kind of thing I like..positive art! Thanks for making the world more interesting and beautiful...(I have to keep my nails short since I play a celtic harp but this idea might be doable even on short nails....) Smiles, Maria

  49. Hi Colette!
I 've already said that I love your works and I have just finished your Four Leaf Clover, but not with the same beautiful result :-(. I used a colour by E.L.F. that seems not to "remain" in water with the others (I used different brands). It seems to melt in water, I don't know why... Have you ever used E.L.F.?? Bye!!!!
