NOTD: ChG Fortune Teller (2 Ways)

Boy, if I'd had this in my pocket, it would have burned a hole I've been so hot to wear it =) Well, finally close enough to Halloween, and I quite enjoyed it all day long, even though I feel like I didn't get very good pics. It's also been raining all day, so I don't even have any overcast outside pics for you, because I'm made of sugar & would melt if I went out there =) As I think most of you know, this holiday polish was a Sally Beauty exclusive color, China Glaze Fortune Teller:

And here's a glimpse of Stumpy ... err, I mean, Lefty ... with the current matte-ified version (is that a word? Do I really need the hyphen? It looks weird to my with & without LOL). I'm learning to like matte, because it's such a quick way to switch up your whole mani without having to start from scratch. I mean, less than 5 mins & I've got a new look for tomorrow. I think I like this even better than the shiny version:

Tomorrow we have a costume contest at work, I rarely participate but we have a lot of people that get into it, especially as groups. Last year we had a group of girls dress up as an 8-pack box of crayons! Which was pretty cool:

Do you get to do anything fun at your job? We'll also be having treats for monthly birthdays & there are costume prizes for funniest, scariest, etc. Are you guys interested in more costume pics? Let me know =)

I'll have to find a special treat for Frisky today ... not that she's not completely spoiled 365 days a year =) I think this pic of her would be perfect for a LOLcat caption - it's just begging for a text bubble hehehe:

Are you kidding me? 150 people give a damn what I think? Sweet! =) I love you guys. No nails pics tonight, but I'm getting ready to put Fortune Teller on my nails! I can hardly wait.

The other day I promised to show you the other treat from Truffles & Tortes, I ate it the other day after I cut my nails down. This one is called Concerto, and has caramel & vanilla mousse inside:

Yum! Wish we all had one right now LOL. Thanks for reading.

NOTD: OPI DS Illuminate

Here we go, yay short nubbins! LOL I know, I'm a whiner =)

Sun was in the forecast, so I wanted to wear something that really would benefit from sun pics & thankfully it held until afternoon when I got out of work =) I couldn't quite get the camera to cooperate & capture the green flash of this polish, except in the bottle pic. It's an unexpected contrast to the rich brown base, and this is one of those holos that's more subtle, rather than super-blingy, so I had to do some out of focus stuff to really catch it. From the OPI Designer Series, this is Illuminate:

Guest NOTD: ChG V Matte-ified

So, mom's in the Halloween mood & got her nails there too by going orange with China Glaze V & Matte Magic:

I actually love this. I like the not QUITE so matte look that the matte topcoat gives, as opposed to the totally flat look that so many actual matte polishes seem to have.

Hack, Hack, Hack! Went The Clippers

If you're faint of heart or weak of stomach, turn back now. Because some of these pics are of my nails in a very rough state. You have been warned =)

So, you saw the results of a broken patch last post, here's the even further aftermath, after removal of polish but patches still on. The polish got all gnarly in the seam so you can really see how bad the index finger is LOL:

One of the reasons I've been so hesitant to cut my nails down, patching them to the nth degree, is that I really need to learn how to be NOT a klutz with long nails. I'm actually having a hell of a time typing this, because the keys feel like they aren't where they should be LOL.

In addition to the disaster on my index finger, you may recall that my middle nail almost bit it at the beginning of September. These pics are after taking off the patches, and you can see the middle finger is growing out pretty good, but got another tear on the opposite side lower down. This is after quite a bit of 100% acetone so excuse the extreme dryness:

I was going to take both hands all the way down to the fingertips, so that I didn't have to deal with any patches, but I decided to put up with a few patches & some temporary unevenness. I guess it's not horrible. But it's the first time in my life I think that my right hand has been in better shape than my left:

The left ring & middle are still going to require some small patches, down near the nail line. On the right, I'm debating on my index & middle, the peeling is almost grown out completely but they still feel kind of weak. The right ring is also a little shorter now than pictured above because you can see the remains of an old break - well, that chipped off before I could decide whether to patch it or not, making my decision for me.

Tee says I have absolutely no right to complain because even my shortest nail is longer than most of hers right now LOL. And I do know it could be so much worse, but I glance down & it just looks WRONG! But I'm hoping they will grow out straight (since I've cut off everything that was curving...) and if they do then I'll cut the right hand down, because those nails curve as badly if not worse.

So, all that said & done & shown, I'll be doing my NOTD pics mainly featuring my right hand until the left grows out to something approaching normal. So bear with me, as I always feel unwontedly gawky posing with my right hand; you'd think it would be easier with your dominant hand, but I know you other bloggers know what I'm talking about =) Not to mention the juggling act that is trying to work my camera with my left LOL.

Pics a little later of the very first stubby NOTD featuring Righty =) Thanks for reading.

NOTD: DS Marble

Well, at least the long nails are going out on a high note. But wait, I get ahead of myself. Pretty good things before we get to the not-so-good things.

I decided to do a water marble with three colors from the OPI Designer Series.

I went with Fantasy, Exclusive & Passion. It turned out pretty well, but you see the problem with my index finger in the shade & sun pics:

It broke (again LOL) this morning before I went to work. I managed to glue it on for the day, but I guess it was just the last straw. I couldn't put up with all of the patches anymore ... & the left hand is down to nubbins ... and yes, I've got pictures coming. Until then, thanks for reading.

NOTD: Barielle Out-Grey-Geous

So, I'm all caught up with comments (for the moment), & I'm going to attempt to post these pics quickly & then honestly go to bed, because I have a tendency to stay up WAY too late on the weekend, even though I'm tired, just because I am really a night owl. But then it throws me off even worse when the alarm starts going off at 5 Monday morning.

This color looks modest, but when you see the gold flecks pop out in certain light - like they are in the camera flash shot - you can see the real beauty & the reason I left it plain. From the Barielle All Lacquered Up Collection, this is Out-Grey-Geous, which is also one of my favorite polish names of all time =) :

Also, not to tease ... well, maybe to tease a little ... this is what I've been snacking on & slowly savoring this evening while I've been getting caught up on the blog. It's from this wonderful little bakery called Truffles & Tortes, it's called a Raspberry Rumba:

That's raspberry mousse inside. Did I mention YUM? Sinfully delicious ... and I got another, different little treat that I'm saving for when Tee comes to visit. I'll be sure to take pics of that one to show also =)

Customer Service: Comcast vs. Barielle

I've just had a couple of customer service experiences - one very good & one very bad. Now, those of you who read Friday's post may think that since I am back online a day early, Comcast is going to get the good review, but NO. That is totally not the case - I am back online through my own stubbornness & no thanks to their guy who I can only say was both irritating & unhelpful for the nearly hour he didn't help me do anything useful. I can only come to the conclusion that he didn't know how long the modem needed to be unplugged to reset itself - which seems like pretty freaking basic information - because even though we went through unplugging & resetting both the modem & the pc multiple times, it didn't work. With nothing to lose, I left it unplugged overnight, turned it on - well here I am. So, thumbs down for Comcast.

The thumbs up goes to Barielle. When I got my order a few months ago, one of the bottles had no label on the bottom. I emailed requesting a new one, but didn't hear anything back - I didn't consider it a big deal at the time, but I recently made reference to it on another blog. SparklingPinkGorilla gave me the email of the rep that helped her, but he saw her post & beat me to it! This Adam guy is on top of it =) So I'll soon have my replacement sticker & that will make me a petty happy camper.

Customer service really can be so hit & miss. Not even just company to company, but particular reps at each company. I mean, some people just obviously don't give a damn, and some do.

Next post will, I swear, have some pictures for you guys =) Thanks for reading.

Experiencing Technical Difficulties

I had every intention of catching up on responding to a week’s worth of comments last night, in additon to posting up a new NOTD, but I ran into some trouble. Came home from work, turned on the computer … no internet. Tried all the normal fixes & even hooked the stupid modem up to my old PC before coming to the conclusion that it was dead.

So, I called tech support, and they said I didn’t need a service call, I could just take it down to the local customer service center (about 10 mins away) & exchange it. Great! I might need to call & authorize the new modem, but it sounded quick & easy & I thought I’d be back in business in short order. Well, not so much.

Went, got the new modem, came home & hooked it up - which involves an acrobatic act of threading cords behind my desk, which is flush against a wall – made sure everything looked good, booted the comp back up … no internet. So, I called tech support again, to authorize it.

Almost an hour later, still no internet. Tech support is clueless & the first available service technician can’t come out until Sunday =( Very lame, totally bogus shit, so I’m posting from work to let you guys know hopefully I’ll be connected to the world again between 2-4 this Sunday.

Thanks for reading ... hopefully back soon.

NOTD: Misa Earthward

I don't know exactly how rare this polish is, but I know it's older, and I know I had to search a bit online to find it after seeing it on another blog. It was totally worth it, it's a gorgeous color, and I ended up wearing it "plain" because of time restraint, but it ended up reminding me how nice a basic manicure - no nail art or Konad or holographic bling or glittergasms - can be. Here is Misa Earthward:
