NOTD: Falling Star

I went to the Fair again yesterday, & I have a ton of pics! But I know, and you guys all know, that the nails are the priority around here =) So I'll do the NOTD before I go start editing the other stuff. This polish is totally unique out of everything in my collection, thanks to the copper flecks. I actually don't think any of these pictures do it justice; from the All Lacquered Up Collection, Barielle's Falling Star:

The wear on this is pretty good, sun & shade pics were taken the day after wearing them all day to the fair, and there's not even really any tipwear. I might change it today, but then again, dealing with the mother of all patches I'm inclined to wear my polish longer just so as not to stress that nail any further LOL. We'll see. Until then, I have more food to show you guys, plus I went on my mission to take pictures of all the wooden sculptures - and succeeded! Not to mention comments ... plenty to keep my busy =) Thanks for reading.

Wow ... 100 Followers =)

I don't think I really knew what I was getting into when I started this blog =) I certainly never thought this many people cared what I had to say or what I had on my nails LOL. So THANK YOU to every single follower, & also every single reader who's not a follower =)

I know a lot of people do a contest or giveaway or something else major when they hit a milestone, but all I have to give to you is ... more of myself.

When I started this blog, I knew it was going to be mostly nails, but I wanted it to be able to encompass the other things I enjoy in life; reading, family, pets, etc ... and so far it's done a really good job of fitting in everything I might feel like blogging about. This blog encompasses so many different things. So many simple little pleasures =)

But I have some others hobbies, that I've decided deserve their own outlet of a blog. I like to write & I like to draw & I am hoping that I can come to like sharing both, something I've always been hesitant to do. I suppose lacking a bit (or more) of confidence. Still, why not? Time to take the step, make the leap, and let those who are interested get a glimpse inside my head.

So, if you're interested, please take a look. And if not? Well, the polish, books, less introspective parts of my life, and other simple pleasures will continue right here =) Thanks for reading.

The Mother Of All Patches - Or, Perhaps, The Begining Of The End

OK, that title came off kind of overly-dramatic. But let me show, the problem & the solution, and then I will tell:

I almost feel weirdly guilty about this ... usually, I'm using a patch for a small tear that would in all likelihood grow out on it's own if it didn't get caught on everything. The patch keeps it together, keeps it from snagging on all sorts of things. This patch ... is holding together something that would never survive on it's own.

I did this at work this morning around 9:00, I'm not sure exactly when but I think when I was out in the warehouse moving around boxes (I am in charge, for some reason, of record retention, rather against my will). I globbed on some of the clear polish I keep in my desk drawer (NOT, unfortunately, Seche) which I put both on top & under the nail - it was my only hope of getting this nail to survive not only the workday, but the trip to grandma's afterward. I tried not to get my hopes up, but somehow I managed not only to function for nearly 12 hours without losing it, but to successfully remove the existing patch without finishing off the break!

Still, all things considered, I'm not sure how long this can possibly last. So if & when it does break the rest of the way, I am telling myself I'll cut the rest down & start from scratch. Which I am not looking forward to (obviously ... look at what I am willing to do to keep my long nails =) )... so I will be taking very good care of this patch LOL until then.

Thanks for reading.

Tips & Toes

I don't want to get behind, but I don't have time to ramble as I usually do either =) Besides, I'm pretty sure that most of what there is possible to say about this polish has already been said. Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie:

To say I like it is an understatement LOL. It's a polish that continues to be interesting even after it's been on the nails for a while, and it makes me smile when glance down.

On the toes, not quite matching but coordinating pretty well, OPI Purple With A Purpose, which is a much pinker-toned purple than shows in these pics:

That's all for tonight, thanks for reading =)

The Fair

So, as much other stuff as there was to see & do, I did have a nail mission as well & I'll put that up front so that those uninterested in the rest don't have to search for it =)

This is the 1-year anniversary of me entering the great wide world of Konad =) I picked up my starter kit at the state fair last year & used it the very next time I did my nails LOL. The building was way too crowded this year to get a decent shot of the Konad booth, but their Fair Special this year was 5 (plates or polish) for $25.00. Now, obviously I could have seriously indulged here, but I am pretty happy with my current Konad selection, and I have been spending a lot lately on "must have" polishes so I kept myself on a leash & only got 5 things:

Image Plates m64 & m72, Black, White & Psyche Pink Special Polishes & a big box of rhinestones. I had a great conversation with the lady handling the booth, and ended up writing down my blog address & contact info for her! She said that they were looking into expanding their online presence & might contact me for like some consulting work - score! How fun would something like that be, even if it was only a minor role?

Alright, the rest of this post has nothing to do with polish, with the exception of glimpses of the most awesome mani of all time when it's my hand holding the food LOL. I went with my mom, dad, uncle & my grandma, and between the 5 of us we ate a LOT of different stuff today! I think I took a picture of just about everything with the exception of the multiple beers & lemonades (kind of on the boring side).

Here's my dad, getting it started pretty much within minutes of entering the gate LOL, with a foot long hot-dog:

Grandma got a bratwurst:

I got bacon on a stick:

My mom & my uncle each had a corn dog:

Dad got this basket of assorted fried seafood:

Umm ... the cream-puff got mostly eaten before I got a pic of it but you can see from how messy it was how much whipped cream there was:

Fried alligator strips & hush puppies:

Corn on the cob:

Some kind of shis-kebab, I think it was buffalo? & one of the many beers:

One of my favorites, veggie fries:

Pina colada flavored Hawaiian shaved ice:

Popcorn:

Cheese Curds:

Loaded potato skins:

Root Beer float:

Fresh-cut & fried curly chips:

Lingonberry float:

Pina Colada smoothie:

Blooming onion:

A bucket full of Sweet Martha's cookies, which was overflowing until we took care of that little problem & ate enough to put the lid on LOL:

Ice cream:

Well, that's all that we ate! Well, actually at the fair ... my dad got a gigantic bag of cotton candy to take home, and me & my mom got cinnamon roasted nuts.

One non-food related thing that was pretty cool - there was this giant robot walking & dancing around & singing! You can see how huge he was, and there was a crowd just like following it around:

And, to close out, just to give you an idea of the crowd, even on a Monday:

The little yellow arrows are on my mom & grandma =)

There was so much else happening at the fair I could have focused on taking pictures of! Maybe next year I'll make it my mission to take pictures of all the carvings - any time they cut down a tree, they leave a tall stump & carve it into ... well, all kinds of things, totem poles, bears, horses, abstract art, all over the fair! We'll just have to see. Thanks for reading =)
