Rimmel NOTD

I was sad to part with my glittery Sparked mani, but it was time. I toned it down a little, but this polish still has some glittery bling. Rimmel Play Fast polish in Scene Stealer:

I was going to do some Konad, I actually did one nail & was not pleased with the results & so removed it. I guess it's (barely) sparly enough to hold it's own without any nail art. The base color is kind of hard to describe ... and a little different in the bottle than on the nail. Kind of taupe-copper-golden-sparkle. I like it, and I feel like shimmery reflective colors like this usually make my nails look longer, which is a plus.

I did make a trip to Sally's today, but details of the haul will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

Frustration Is...

Frustration is a 10-pack of polish.

Seriously, I was at Big Lots with mom yesterday, and on top of one of the shelves she spots a stack of Maybelline polish, 10 bottles to a package, for $10.00. Only a dollar a bottle, great! Right?

Not so much. Aside from the fact that a lot of the colors were dupes of what I already had, there were dupes inside the packages! There were like maybe 2 bottles in each package that I wanted, and I have never been so tempted to vandalize packaging & create my own set of 10 GOOD polishes. But I resisted. I thought, Hey, if Big Lots has these, maybe Dollar Tree got some new stuff too! So I go down the strip mall to the Dollar Tree. Which is barren of polish. Meh ... I didn't like that one any way. I go to two other Dollar Trees ... with similar results.

Today I went to two MORE Dollar Trees ... and they had no polish either! It's like a polish drought or something. But, I also went to another Big Lots, and after much searching & debate I gave in & got one of the sets. Ladies, if you go searching, this is what you're looking for:

I managed to find one without any dupes within the package, and only 2 of the colors I already own. The main thing inside that I wanted was the heart-shaped glitter polishes (middle of the middle row). Sadly, although there are 3 colors, NONE of the sets had all 3 inside, and since I'm coming off a no-buy & still kind of trying to be good, I refrained from buying another package just for the 3rd heart polish.

So, if you missed the heart-glitter in the normal stores & would like to pick up a couple, get thee to a Big Lots! Both locations I went to these were up on top of the shelves, kind of out of the way & not where you would normally look, probably because the package is so honkin' big. Most sets were made up of various pinks, but some I saw had a cool purple & I also saw a couple of cool glittery peach colors. So it just depends, hopefully you can luck out & find a package with a good combo of colors!

On another note, today we celebrated my grandma's 80th birthday! I am lucky enough to have all of my grandparents still alive, although only my mom's parents live close enough that we get to visit on a regular basis. It was really nice, the regular crowd was all there for dinner, plus my other uncle who is not usually there came on his way home from work so she had all 4 of her kids to sing to her. We don't do a ton of gifts, but grandma is pretty easy - she likes a sampler pack of beer! It's what I got her for Christmas too, LOL.

NOTD: Sparked

It's Brooke's fault for showing me glitter over on her blog. I should know by now I can be sort of impressionable when I haven't picked a color yet. So I dug around & found about 10 glitters I haven't worn yet & the winner was Wet n Wild Sparked. I don't normally do Konad when I wear glitter, but I gave it a try & actually love the way this looks. Plus it seems I've finally thinned my black special polish enough it's not streaking. I used plate m15:

Bling! Pink, mauve & silver glitter in a fairly clear base. I think this would be an awesome polish over black, since it's not as dense as the glitter Brooke had - hers was completely opaque in 1 coat, while this is 3 coats, and I was sorely tempted to do 4, but it was late. It's so sparkly it's hard if not impossible to tell what the Konad is from a distance, but I don't care since this is mainly for MY amusement.

Since I did this last night, I've had plenty of time to admire it, and I have to admit, I just keep looking down at my nails & thinking "Man that's bomb".

Polls

So, I'm a curious sort of person. And I'm curious about my readers =) And other bloggers in general.

I usually do my posting & replying to comments in the evening, either when I get home from work, or after dinner (or both LOL). Seems like a lot of the action happens during the day though, so this month's poll has to do with work: How much leeway do you have?

Check out the poll in the upper right & let me know: Can you blog at work? & if so how much? Personally, I'm lucky if I'm able to sneak a peek at my gmail to look at my comments, maybe post a reply or 2 if I know my boss is in a meeting & won't be back to lurk over my shoulder. But I fondly remember previous jobs I've had where I spent a good portion of the day browsing the web & reading forums.

Fulfill my curiosity! And feel free to leave a comment with what kind of job you have & if you love it or hate it. Personally, while I am grateful to be gainfully employed in our current crappy economy, I HATE my job with a passion. HATE IT. But I'm good at it. So I guess that should count for something ... right?

On to the results of my last poll (The cut-off first option was "Yes! The more polish the better!"):

I was a little surprised to see the margin was so large. More than 2 to 1. Which I guess is a good thing since I've already posted TOTD twice LOL. Plus! I almost doubled the number of votes from my first poll, which is awesome. Of course this one was up longer, but I kind of like having a poll going & a month seems like a good length of time for now.

Test Skittles & Stuff

So, I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do with my nails next, but I wasn't sure how they'd turn out ... so I did some test skittles over my existing mani & after being severely dissapointed I am now clueless what I'm going to do. These are so ugly I almost did not post them, but I figured hey, share the learning experience. Let me show you my dissapointment ... but first let me give a general disclaimer that these are all very sloppy, both on the base color application & the Konad. I didn't do any cleanup since it's obviously coming right off.

Right to left colors are: Push Upon It (Konaded with FL & DP both in the tip pattern), Dreamy Purple (with PUI (top) & FL(bottom)) & Forbidden Lust (with PUI & DP):

Which turned out crappy enough, but after top coat, which I hoped might help, I thought they were all actually worse, barely visible at all!:

Here we have DP (with Devotion & special Silver) & FL (with Passion). Wasn't horribly enthused with any of these combos either:

So, that all kind of bummed me out ... which came after a lot of bum-outs at work today. The main issue was power went out at work ... we were running on the backup generator ... and then something else broke & half of what was still working quit, including my computer. The boss said I could go home after I finished my stuff that didn't need a computer, mostly filing ... but just as I was finishing, she came with the "good news" that she'd found a computer I could work on, someone who was out of the office. But! I buried my sorrow in a brownie-cookie:

Brownie cookies were, ironically enough, brought in by her husband, who also works in a bakery. If you've never had one of these before, it's just what it sounds like - brownie+cookie = brownie cookie. Chewy, chocolatey, yummy-y.

Also, one last thing for this post: My Nails Look Like ... my friend Sam's sweater:

So, that was my day. Well, in reverse order, since I found the MNLL this morning & the test skittles just happened.

Now off to remove the horrible test skittles & pick a new color ... I think something totally different until I get over my irritation with these shades. Thanks for reading.
